Terms of Service

1. Who runs the service

Dub With Your Friends ("the site" or "the service"), at https://dubwfriends.com, is run by Matteo Campo, Via Valle Ponzema 23/3, Campo Ligure, GE. In these documents "we" means the operator and the site's admins acting on its behalf.

Single point of contact for users and authorities (including under Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the "DSA"): [email protected]. You can write to us in English or Italian.

2. The service

Dub With Your Friends is an online party game: in a private or public room players dub short video scenes ("packs") with their own voice, watch the result together and vote for the best take. The site also lets you create and publish packs (with one or more scenes), rewatch, save and share replays, download a game's video, let an audience watch and vote through a separate code and, with an account, have a public profile, friends, parties, invites and notifications.

The service is free, with no ads and no purchases. Using it means accepting these Terms and the Content Rules, which are part of them. The Privacy Notice and the Cookie Notice explain how we handle personal data.

3. Minimum age

You must be at least 14 to use the service, Italy's age of digital consent (Art. 2-quinquies, Legislative Decree 196/2003). If you are between 14 and 17 you may play, but we ask that a parent or guardian knows about it.

If we find out an account belongs to someone under 14, we close it and delete its data. Parents and guardians can write to [email protected].

4. Guests and accounts

You can play as a guest: pick a name and an avatar, kept only in a cookie in your browser. Creating packs, having a public profile, adding friends and keeping replays needs an account, made by signing in with your Discord or Google account: we never receive or store your password or email. Discord and Google handle sign-in under their own terms and privacy policies.

Each account is personal: you may not transfer, sell or lend it, or use several accounts to get around limits, bans or game rules. You are responsible for what is done with your profile and for keeping your Discord or Google login safe; if you think someone else is using it, write to [email protected] straight away. You can close your account at any time in Settings → Privacy & data.

5. Your content

What you make — voice recordings, packs (videos, images, texts), names and avatars — stays yours. You give us a free, non-exclusive licence limited to what the service needs: storing it, processing it technically (for example lowering its resolution or separating a scene's voice from its music), playing it to the other players and spectators in the game, showing it in replays and, for published packs and replays you share, making it visible to anyone who visits the site or has the link, preview images included. The licence ends when the content is deleted, apart from the technical time needed to remove it and what section 7 says about the packs of an account we close.

When you submit a pack you state that you hold the rights to its video, images and texts (because you made them, have a licence, or they are in the public domain) and that publishing them doesn't infringe anyone else's rights. Don't upload clips from films, series or other protected works without the rights holder's permission: we remove them when reported. If you use one of your packs that isn't approved yet in a room, you show it to the other players and spectators: you are responsible for it just as for a published pack.

In the Pack Creator you can use an automatic scene analysis that suggests lines and characters: it runs in your browser and the audio isn't sent to us or anyone else. Its suggestions can be wrong: check them before publishing.

Voice recordings are only for the game: we don't use them to identify you, we don't derive voiceprints from them and we don't use them to train AI systems. A game video you download contains the other players' voices and names: only share it outside the site if they agree.

6. Review, reports and moderation

Packs made by players are checked by an admin before they go live. If a pack is rejected we tell you why and the uploaded video is deleted.

Anyone can report illegal content or content that breaks the Rules with the "Report" button on packs, profiles and shared replays, or by writing to [email protected] (for something that happened during a game, give the room code and the time). We handle reports diligently and tell the reporter what we decided.

If content or behaviour breaks the law or the Rules we may reject, unpublish or delete the content, and suspend, ban or close the account responsible (section 7). We tell you what we did and why (Art. 17 DSA). If you disagree, write to [email protected] within six months: where possible a different person reviews the decision. You can always go to court.

7. Suspension, bans and account closure

Under Article 1456 of the Italian Civil Code, the agreement ends automatically when we tell you we are relying on this clause because you have: published or recorded illegal content or content seriously against the Rules; harassed other players; got around a block or ban (for example by making new profiles); used bots, scripts or other means to tamper with the game or overload the service; carried out suspicious activity that puts the security of the service or of other players at risk, as described in the Content Rules.

To keep the site safe, admins may ban or delete an account when they detect suspicious activity. Where it's needed to protect other players they may suspend it straight away, as a precaution, while they check; if the check doesn't confirm the suspicion the suspension is lifted. For less serious breaches we take proportionate measures: a warning, removing content, a name or avatar change, a temporary ban. A ban may extend to the network and browser the account used, so it can't come back with a new profile (see the Privacy Notice). Guests may be removed from a room and can't join from a blocked network or browser.

These decisions are always taken by a person, who gives the reason and the duration; you can contest them as described in section 6. If we delete an account, its data is deleted as if you had closed it yourself; we may keep its approved packs that follow the rules published, and we remove them if you write to [email protected]. We only keep what is needed to enforce a ban and to handle any dispute, as the Privacy Notice explains.

You can stop using the service and delete your account whenever you like, without notice or cost.

8. Availability and liability

The service is free and provided as is. We do our best to keep it running and safe, but there may be outages, scheduled maintenance (announced on the site) or bugs, and we may change or remove game features. If we decide to shut the service down we will give reasonable notice so you can download your data.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (Art. 1229 Italian Civil Code) or your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes to these Terms and the other documents

The site's admins may change these Terms and the other legal documents at any time (Content Rules, Privacy Notice, Cookie Notice) when there is a concrete reason: for example new or changed features, new laws or requests from authorities, security needs, or to make the texts clearer. The version in force is always the one published on this site, with its date at the top of the page: please check back periodically.

Important changes, which affect your rights or obligations, are shown to you on the site before they apply to you: on your next visit you are asked to accept the Terms again, and until you do you can still view, download and delete your data. If you don't agree you can stop using the service and close your account at any time, at no cost. Changes that don't alter your rights or obligations (typos, clearer wording, updated contact details) apply from publication.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live have jurisdiction, and the mandatory rules of your country of residence still apply.

Before going to court, please write to [email protected]: most problems get solved that way.

If the Italian and English versions of these documents differ, the Italian version prevails.
